Help Save the Second Manassas Battlefield

The Civil War Preservation Trust has announced an opportunity to save battlefield ground at the Manassas National Military Park. There are two parcels in this transaction: nine-acres of property where Union General Fitz John Porter's men emerged from the woods to be met with shot and shell as they made their way to Stonewall Jackson's position and a one-acre parcel on the strategic Sudley Road that passes through the heart of the battlefield.

The CWPT needs to raise $57,000 immediately to pay for the 10 acres today, holding the property in trust with the expectation that it can be sold to the Park in 2011 or 2012.
